This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are an ambitious bunch who take on various academic and personal pursuits. Students travel from class to class, with little novelty in their classroom environments. Being in a small school, many of my students will be in my classroom for multiple periods throughout the day. Additionally, they have very few spaces in which to decompress and without a school library, my students often find themselves reading or studying on the floor or back at their tables.
I imagine the seating options being used for breakout sessions, sensory breaks, and study/reading spaces.
By offering my students choices such as beanbag seats, saucer chairs, or even a sofa, my hope is to boost engagement and provide a comfortable space for students to continue learning.
