Comfortable Classroom Library to Encourage Class Bookworms!
My students need a rug and a stability disc for their classroom library to make the classroom library as comfortable as possible. We also need tennis balls and pencils.

My Students
I currently teach a special education class in Mount Vernon, New York. In this class we have a group of very diverse learners; all of which have their own styles of learning. In this class we have students with Autism, learning disabilities, speech and language impairments. At the beginning of this year many of these students came to 2nd grade not knowing their letter sounds. I am proud to say that as they finish 2nd grade many of them are reading books that are almost on level.
No matter what obstacle is put in their way, this group of students comes to school ready to learn every day and overcome anything put in their way!
There are difficult days working at this job, but the motivation and dedication the students show to their school work inspires me every day to come in and do my best. Just last week I found out that I will be going up to 3rd grade with this class and I cannot wait!
My Project
This year many of the students in my class have gone from knowing one or two letter sounds to becoming emerging readers. In order to encourage these new readers to continue their love for reading, I am asking for a classroom rug and a stability disc for my students to sit on while reading their "just right books" from the classroom library.
Not only will this project give students a comfortable place to sit while reading, it will also give them flexible seating options!
Along with the classroom rug and disc, I am also asking for tennis balls to put on the students seats that decide to sit in their desk chairs while reading. Also,they need pencils to write responses to literature after completing their just right book.
Lets get these student reading fluently by the end of the next school year!
