My Students

My students are a bright and busy group. We are from a small town with limited resources. Because of budget restraints we have gone to a four day week. While the change has been fun and well received, we still have many things to do.

I want to make my classroom as welcoming as possible.

My students spend all day in uncomfortable, one-size-fits-all desks. Unfortunately, we aren't all one size. I'd like to offer my kids different seating options to allow them to work more comfortably and most importantly enjoy their space.

My Project

I work hard to make my classroom homey and inviting. It is as comfortable as it can be considering the hard, cold, standard school desks that have been around since I was a student in the same room. Currently I have a couple of Adirondack chairs in one corner that my kids love to sit in. I have several in each class that prefer to sit in the floor to work or out of necessity in order to reach a power strip. I'd like to give them something to sit on, such as the floor pillows, to make it more comfortable.

I'm hoping to expand my seating options to make students more comfortable.

The old desks are old and out of date. As adults we look for good office chairs, the perfect desk, or a standing desk to make our work environment more enjoyable. I'm hoping to do the same for my kids. If sitting in the floor, on a stool, spreading out on a table, or having the option to choose allows my students to relax into their environment, then I'm willing to find a way to make it happen!
