My Project
My students are learning every day! They learn academic skills, life skills, and self-regulation skills.
In our classroom, we have a calm-down space/safe space that all of my students utilize.
This space allows my learners to take a break to help them learn to calm their bodies and regulate their emotions when they are overwhelmed or overstimulated. With support, this area will help them return to their academic learning quicker.
This calm down space must be inviting, comfortable, and safe. I would love to provide my learners with age-appropriate bean bag chairs and rockers so that they can choose what is best for them. They could also utilize these bean bag chairs and rockers during morning meeting, to help students be more engaged and attentive.
