My Students

Where do you feel most comfortable when working? Much like adults, children need a safe and warm environment in order to maintain focus and complete independent tasks. To be successful, my students need to work in an area of the classroom that best suits their needs.

I teach third grade in a low income elementary school in Rhode Island.

We receive funds through a Title I program; the criteria for this funding is based upon over 40% of our school's population qualifying for free or reduced lunch. My particular classroom is comprised of 21 third graders, many of whom are English Language Learners. I firmly believe that any potentially donated resources can make all the difference for my diverse little ones!

My Project

At the beginning of the school year, I required my students to fill in interest inventories about learning preferences- how and where they learn the best. Most students indicated that they feel the most successful working around the room, rather than confined to their desks. In order to do that, my students will need mobile seat mats and clipboards to complete their work in a comfortable space!

Donations to this project will allow students the autonomy to find a convenient nook in the classroom, set up with their clipboards and seat mats, and successfully complete tasks!
