I am a High School Special Education Teacher. A top priority in my classroom is to ensure it is a safe and welcoming environment for my students. I want students to walk in and feel comfortable, ready to learn. I truly believe students will not learn from you if they do not like you or feel welcomed in your classroom.
The bean bags and rug that I am hoping to get donated for my classroom would help students feel comfortable and give them alternate or flexible seating.
I know when I am working, I would much rather sit in a comfortable seat rather than a desk, so why would I not want to provide that for my students? This is a way that students can make a choice on their own about where they think they learn best.
The snacks that I am hoping to get donated for my classroom are for obvious reasons, who can learn when they are hungry? I do my best to provide snacks for my classroom, but that can get expensive to do alone. However, I do not want any of my students coming into my room or leaving my room hungry.
