My Students
My students are resilient. My students are strong. My students are kind. They are smart. They are wise beyond their years, and they are over-comers.
I am so proud of my students because even though school is often their safe place, no matter what circumstance they battle at home, they face each day with determination and fortitude.
My students inspire me to be and do better. Many days they think I am teaching them when in reality they are the ones teaching me and changing my life.
I am very blessed to teach in a place where I know my job is important every single day. Most of my students are from a low-income, rural area, making my classroom one of their escapes from things beyond their control.
My kids are so much more than most people could imagine. They are a group of middle school kids who will one day change the world around them.
My Project
Flexible seating has many advantages in the classroom. I have noticed a positive change in my students since I implemented flex seating.
Being from an area affected by a cycle of high poverty, drug abuse, and apathy, relationships are very important in our classrooms; flexible seating has shown my students that I want to give them a voice and a say in their learning, while also providing them a with feeling of comfort and security during their time in my room.
The items I have chosen for this project will help me in continuing this goal, and will benefit my classroom greatly.
