Comfort & Care: Tools for Student Wellness

Help me give my students supplies to revamp our counseling office into a safe space. This project includes storage bins, flexible seating, worry stones, journals, markers, and trays to create a calm, organized, and supportive counseling space.

My Project

As a school counselor in my second year, my goal is to create a welcoming and functional space where students feel safe, supported, and empowered. I serve over 400 students, and I share this space with another school counselor who also supports more than 400 students of her own. With such a high volume of students using this room throughout the day, it’s important that our office is thoughtfully organized, calming, and designed to meet a wide range of needs.

My students love to come in, sit, and chat , sometimes about what’s bothering them, sometimes just to connect and decompress.

Having soft, comfortable chairs will make those moments even more meaningful, giving them a cozy place to settle in and feel truly heard. Many of them also open up more through drawing and creative activities. Whether they’re sketching how they feel or quietly journaling, art becomes a bridge to deeper conversations and self-reflection.

This project includes essential tools to help revamp our counseling office into a more student-centered, nurturing space. Items like extra-large plastic storage boxes and colorful paper trays will help us stay organized and keep materials accessible. Sensory tools like worry stones and journals will support emotional regulation and self-expression, while markers and notebooks will foster creativity and therapeutic engagement.

Ultimately, these resources will help transform our shared office into a supportive hub where over 800 students can recharge, reflect, and learn healthy ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and everyday challenges. My hope is that this updated space will empower every student who walks through our door to feel confident, capable, and cared for.
