My students need a clean, scholar-friendly carpet for large group and center time.

My Students
I teach at a Title I school and love my job! My students are from a high poverty area and consist of English language learners, children at risk (some are homeless) and children with special needs. My school has students from 46 countries and half of my students start the school year not knowing any English. My job consists of getting my students kindergarten ready. That means I need to provide as many language and experience rich activities as possible. Many of my students have little or no support at home and often come to school unprepared (food, shelter, and clothing needs are not always met). I need your help to provide a clean friendly inviting area for children to play and learn on.
My Project
Our students need a clean and scholar friendly place to sit during large group and play during center time. Our current carpet is 13 years old and is frayed around the edges and has many stains. Our classroom has hard, cold tile floors that are uncomfortable and not particularly safe for students with special needs. The ABC carpet we have chosen will help our students each have a personal space while providing a focus on the alphabet. We will be able to use the carpet during transitions to teach upper and lowercase letters, letter sounds and colors. Our students will also use this carpet at independent center time as it is in the block and music area. This will provide a clean area for them to build and create upon.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our Pre-K class by providing a warm, inviting and academic area for us to work on together as a classroom community.
This will change our students' lives for the better because they will enter our classroom and feel the energy and love. We strive to make our classroom as cozy and friendly as possible so that our students first school experience will foster a love of school and learning. A new carpet would allow our students a warm, safe, and comfortable learning environment. They would be provided with continuous learning during large group, small group and independent times of the day. The carpet is designed with educational concepts for learning the alphabet and will assist our students in understanding personal learning spaces.
