My Students
Ours is a high poverty district plagued with perpetual budget cuts. Our students come from working families, and a community blessed with the diversity of many countries and cultures.
My students are intensely curious language learners with high ambitions.
Many come from families affected by what we only witness on the news: conflict in other countries, natural disasters, and the ever-present burden of socioeconomic challenges. And yet, our students show up to school every day, ready to learn, intent on working to find a better way for themselves, their families and their community.
My Project
Collaborative learning, or working in groups towards a common learning goal, is a popular and effective method used in classrooms. Our ESL classroom is no different. Whether we are participating in discussion groups, literacy circles or simply reflecting together at the end of a lesson, any visitor to our room commonly sees heads together, markers on chart paper and deep discussion going on.
It's hard creating the perfect project poster, or assembling an outstanding model if you have to work over multiple desks of varying heights.
The floor does provide an even surface, but it risks getting your work dirty or worse, stepped on. This six-foot table will provide mys students plenty of space to spread out their materials and create.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
