This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students coming to school every single day is critical to their education and academic growth. I have seen firsthand the growth and improvement a student can achieve when they are present and on time to school. I want to encourage and reward our students with fidget items so they are motivated to attend school! Our school is a Title 1, Pre-K to 5th grade school. Last year, about 1/3 of our students missed 18 or more days of school making them chronically absent. These students are more likely to fall behind grade-level standards and not be able to read proficiently.

To help these students who want to come to school, we are going to reward them for being present and on time on the days they're most likely to miss by playing "Beat the Bell." Every Monday and Friday, students who come to school have the chance to win a prize!

Students will be randomly picked, if they are there that day, they will get to pick an incentive. We began doing Beat the Bell at our school last year, and the students loved it! They looked forward to hearing the number and got excited for their friends when they won. Donating to this project helps promote positive attendance and change student's lives and outcomes!
