My students need a large assortment of Art resources, including a See Thru Easel, Art Supplies, Gathering Drums, Sensory Table and Snacks for a Preschool Art Festival.

I work with amazing young children age 2-5 years old in an Early Childhood Special Education Classroom.

My special needs students cannot be defined by their diagnosed disabilities. By integrating the arts into the curriculum I see where my students strengths lie. This allows me to meet my students in a place of pride and respect and begin remediation in their areas of need.

My Project

To prepare for this project, I went to the public library and looked at children's art books. I have dreamed of creating a Preschool Art Festival that would allow my little-ones to express themselves in different mediums as well as attempt to recreate different styles of famous artists. They could paint dots with Q-tips to resemble Georges Seurat and splatter paint like Jackson Pollack. It would be so rewarding to have the children express themselves and their styles while working on fine motor skills and coordination. I would encourage the children to look at and analyze the shapes, colors, and lines in paintings like Van Gogh's "Starry Night" to interpret and recreate. The Festival would be "Live" so the students themselves would welcome parents and guests to the rug with their Gathering Drum. My little artists would be working on live projects like water art, sand sculpture,and portrait painting of family members on our easel. Their beautiful art work would be displayed everywhere.

This project will provide the materials to create a Preschool Art and Juice Family Festival at my school. Every piece of work reveals the creativity and strength my students posses. Help me find each child's gift and and plant a cornerstone for the building blocks of their education.
