My Project
I am requesting funds to purchase materials to build my own desk/teacher table. I saw this idea on Pinterest and I knew it could change my room dynamic completely. Currently, I have a traditional desk with my kidney shaped teacher table pushed against it. I have found that sometimes my students need a place to sit and work in proximity to me. My current setup takes up a lot of my valuable classroom space. With the new set up, my desk and teacher table would be one unit with a L shaped design. Students would be able to literally sit at my desk for small groups, but also any other time they need me! It would also give me more space to utilize in my classroom which can become cramped when I have more than twenty students.
Through teaching, I have found that some students need to be able to just sit and talk with me a while.
This set up would not only allow that, but would also encourage more students to take advantage of the area. I love being able to invite them to sit with me, sometimes it is just to talk and other times it is when they need more help. This has improved my classroom management as well as increased positive outcomes in the classroom.
I want to create an environment where students know I am here to help, with whatever situation they might be working through!
