My Project

Teaching kindergarten is a daily reminder of the magic in learning, and nowhere is that magic more alive than in dramatic play. What I love most about my students is how freely and joyfully they use their imaginations. When they step into the dramatic play area, they become chefs, doctors, superheroes, parents, animals—even things I never could have imagined. Watching them brings me pure joy, not just because it’s fun, but because it reveals so much about who they are and how they see the world.

In dramatic play, my students show kindness and cooperation.

A new wooden kitchen set will allow even more imaginative play. I love how naturally they form little teams: one student taking orders, while another cooks pretend spaghetti, or two children caring for a baby doll together. They may not realize it, but they’re practicing empathy, communication, and problem-solving with every role they play. I especially love watching quieter students come out of their shell when they put on a costume or take on a character—they suddenly become bold, expressive, and confident.

What’s truly beautiful is the way dramatic play gives my students space to explore real-life experiences. They reenact things they've seen at home, at the grocery store, or in the community, often with surprisingly accurate detail. I love these moments because they give me a window into my students’ lives and help me understand what matters to them. It’s also a chance to gently guide them—to model language, encourage kindness, and help them navigate social situations in a safe and creative way.
