This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is filled with energetic students who are eager to learn new things. All my students come from the inner city and come with little to no school supplies to meet their basic needs because their family simply can not afford to buy them. I have many students that are English language learners and I need additional ways to support their learning of English in the classroom! My students have a wide range of literacy and math needs and having additional materials will allow me to provide better instruction!
My Project
These materials will give my students more opportunities during small group work to on their phonics skills. I will use the beginning sounds train and the phonemic awareness materials to create additional centers in the classroom to work on beginning sounds. I will use the sight word activity chest to create a center to target the skill of sight words. Sight words are vital to a students ability to read grade-level text. Also, the Dr. Seuss books on CD will give more variety of books to listen to in the listening center. Lastly, I will use the pocket chart to help my students stay organized during center time. It will give them a visual about what center they will be working it for that day. These materials are also great to help my English language learners development their English language skills. The materials are vibrant and engaging. These materials will be added to my classroom in addition to materials I have purchased myself, printed, copies or made for my students. It is important that I provide my students the best materials possible and keep them engaged at all times.
