This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is filled with energetic students who are eager to learn and enjoy new things. All my students come from the inner city and have limited opportunities and experiences. This year my focus is at home reading and sight word practice. Therefore, I am building take home bags to support all my students at home who may not have numerous grade-level books to read. My students enjoy reading and practicing at home and during the day. I want to give them the best!
My Project
These grade-level books will allow me to give my higher level readers more opportunities to practice reading at home with level c books. Currently, I only have level A and B books to send home each week in their reading bags. I fill the students reading bags every Monday with different books to practice reading with for homework. They then record each book on their reading log. The more books I can provide for my students the more opportunities they will have to practice reading on their reading level. I chose these books because they will also provide both fiction and non-fiction titles for the students as well.
