This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are challenged with a language barrier. Can you imagine the joy of producing a video or slide show while learning sometimes difficult concepts? You are invited to see what we have in store. Acting out a concept is much better than reading about it.

My students are from low income families.

Over 90% of of them are on free or reduced lunch. English is their second language. Yet, they are so eager to soak up knowledge in all areas. Some of my kids are so shy. My goal is to offer a means for them to express their talents. Writing and acting out what they learn allows them to open up and present in front of the class.

My Project

The tablet I am requesting will aid in video productions. The students will be able to surf the net about a topic. They will then be able to write skits, poems, songs and video themselves. They have began to share songs that aid in multiplication facts. Their challenge is to come up with a song and dance for the 2's through the 10's multiplication tables. This will enhance group work. However, individual work is also permitted. Students then choose classmates to join in with them to produce a final project in the form of a video. The final project, whether a PowerPoint or video, will be presented before the class. Even the shy or quiet, tend to open up while singing or dancing in front of the class. The end result will be learning math concepts and strategies, as well as team building.
