Come On, Inner Peace! We Need a Space for It!

Help me give my students have a well-deserved peace space to reflect and recover from stress and strong feelings!

My Project

I work at a diverse, inner-city elementary school where, within my classroom, students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, cultural values, and home languages. Approximately half of the school's population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. The students love to learn and have a great time! We are committed to having joyful learners at our school. My students are curious, fun-loving, and love to learn. In the past project, I requested three single desks for flexible seating to meet the CDC guidelines during the pandemic. Those desks made more space for the classroom. However, I have 14 more desk spaces to accommodate active students in my classroom. I am still struggling to have a group table for a small group and a projector in class. Last school year, in particular, I had a significant problem creating a comfortable space for my "Peace Corner."

My Peace (Corner) Space, where I dedicate it to the students who need to take a break and recover from temporary stress or emotional issues, so that they can return to a learning mode.

My double desks are too large to fit in the classroom for 14 more students. With the anticipated plan of classroom integration opportunities for the next school year, I am requesting three activity tables and some stress-relieving tools. With these three tables, I will free up my classroom space, providing ample room for the Peace Space and Small Group tables. With the addition of stress-relieving tools, my students will quickly gain inner peace and recover sufficiently to return to the business of learning.
