This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first year teacher to an exciting and energetic group of boys. All of my students are diagnosed as Moderate/Severe and have Autism. They love to play, laugh, and run free at recess. When they want that in the classroom it makes for a very festive day.

Many of my students have limited writing ability and show little interest in learning the skill.

Many require hand-over-hand prompting. I want to be able to utilize a program that will give them multiple modalities to learn the shape and size of letters and numbers in new and fun ways.

Having Handwriting Without Tears as a constant tool in my classroom will be allow me to create a consistent program, using auditory, tactile, and visual activities to enhance the learning process.

My Project

The students in my classroom range in age from 7 to 9 but range in developmental level from 2 to 6 years of age. This impacts their ability to acquire skills most children would have gained by their age. This includes writing. I will be able to utilize the various kits I've listed to address all of my students writing needs daily in a variety of settings with a variety of engaging activities.

Having Handwriting Without Tears to build their writing skills over the three years they will spend with me will be beneficial to helping them bridge the gap between the where they should be developmentally and where they are.
