This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Kindergarten children need opportunities to create and play with a variety of materials as part of a well rounded curriculum. Blocks and building materials provide experiences in mathematics and engineering as they solve problems in construction. Children learn to be flexible thinkers who persevere through difficult work while having fun at the same time. Block play can be cooperative work and allows children to practice social and academic language while they play. Young children experiencing school for the first time are excited to join block play as they may not have these materials at home. New toys, new friends, and new experiences are what kindergarten is all about!
