Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My STEM classroom serves over 700 students at my school. They love coming to the STEM lab to be inspired and meet a new STEM challenge each week! They come into a cold tile floor and sterile hard plastic chairs. When kids can spread out on carpet and explore building blocks, LEGO's or other STEM building kits, they are more creative. My students can be wiggly, a lot, and giving them a chance to wiggle and move yet, keep working helps to inspire them. If they are moving while they are thinking the best creativity comes out in their work and projects!
Students need to move & wiggle while they think, build, explore & grow.
If my students can sit on warm squishy cushions and/or on a colorful rug, they are more likely to spread out and stay inspired! Kids need a creative environment for them to work the STEM lab. Being able to spread out on carpet or cushions allows them to communicate with each other more effectively. My students also need a comfortable place to sit and still be able to move a little. The bands on the chairs allow kids to move their feet while they are still sitting in the chairs. The stools allow them to move a bit more while working at a table. The STEM lab needs to fun and exciting! The students at my school are fabulous and deserve a inviting place to learn and grow.
