Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the teacher of a very curious group of second grade students. They attend a school that is classified as a Title 1 facility. All of them qualify for the free food lunch program. The community they live in is stricken by a high level of poverty.
Despite these circumstances, they are so eager to please and be productive leaders.
They work so hard and come in each morning with a warm greeting and huge smile, which makes me look forward to each day.
My Project
The selected carpets will be used to establish a warm, inviting and cozy reading library area. The students will have a place to go and sit on during the Daily 5 reading block of our schedule instead of the cold tiled floor.
The most valuable difference the carpets will serve as is that it will help the children build their vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
By donating to our project you will share in my vision on the importance of reading. You will help my student's future educational requirements and prepare them for academic success. In addition, it will encourage great reading habits and open the door many adventures.
