This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What I love most about my students is how wonderful, creative, fun, and at times random they are. They’re all showing strong signs of being the pioneers of a bright future. My students are truly something special, and while many other teachers have said the same, I truly believe my kids are unique. They even set up their own little musical performance to give me a break from teaching!
My Project
As they say, "There is no EARTH without ART". Technology is rapidly becoming a necessity as well, due to the events of the past 2 years that caused the world to become interconnected through technology. Art is an incredible way to express oneself creatively, and has proven to improve mental health, especially in kids who come from low-income families, who have enough struggles on a day-to-day basis as is. Covid-19 has not just affected teenagers and adults; kids are not exempt from the stresses of trying to survive in a global pandemic.
I intend to teach these low-income kids one creative medium to provide an escape for them, beginning with paint-pouring and introducing them to the color wheel.
The student target is low income preschoolers, and I intend to teach them that they can mix nearly every color in the world using only a few paint bottles. They will learn the diversity of color, and with this information they'll feel as if they are more in control, and it will boost their confidence that they are capable of anything.
Using the laptop, I will be able to catch the attention of these students, and show them video examples of paint pouring, so that they feel captivated and inspired to create their own.
More than half of students from low‑income households
