My Students

My third-grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.

School is a safe place and I do my best to make my classroom fun and exciting.

Most of my students live in public housing. Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.

My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.

My Project

Many studies have shown how trauma students or students from low-income households learn best when taught through the arts. I am in my third year of teaching at a school that integrates the arts with the curriculum. I am also in a cohort where we are learning many techniques in a variety of medias.

Please help us get the art supplies we need to make this school year a great success.

My students are a wonderful bunch and I have seen how using the arts to teach really works. Last year my students showed vast improvement in reading and math due to this program.

We need your help. We are a school in extreme poverty and my students deserve the best. Please help me so I can help them. This will be my 19th year teaching in the city and I will continue to teach here for at least 20 more years but we need your help. Even just a dollar donation is a huge help. Remember all donations are tax-deductible. Please help us.
