This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A world without color would be pretty black and white.
My students live in a diverse community where they get the opportunity to interact with students of different races, religions, and creed.
They are a very close knit collection of students who enjoy coming to school and learning new things everyday. They especially like to get art materials out and do an art project if the lesson calls for one. Art is one way some of my students express themselves best.
My Project
We need new colored pencils, crayons, and scissors. Each teacher gets a rationed amount at the start of every school year, but that supply doesn't always cover the exact number of students in my class. Plus, we go through a lot of these art supplies during those 180 school days. Students love to go to my rolling cart, open the drawer, and take out a fresh pack of crayons or colored pencils. However, that isn't always possible when I don't get enough for each of my 30+ students. We're also in desperate need of scissors. They get used lovingly throughout the year and sometimes don't always make it to see the end. I'd especially like to work on an art project for open house that requires all three of these materials. It would be wonderful to get a new supply so my students can put up their country report projects with a wide variety of colors.
These supplies are very important to my students because they'll allow the students to create more art, especially a social studies project for open house.
Many students don't have access to these supplies at home, so it is important I keep my room well stocked so they never go without when they're with me.
