My students need a color printer for our Project Based Learning Project. We will be creating flyers, pamphlets, informational posters, seed packets, and many more items!
We start every day with a song - "I Believe I Can Fly".
And I believe they can soar! Our first grade is embarking our first every Project Based Learning project this semester. My students are beyond excited to start and I want to make sure our project is a great success!
My class is a very large first grade class.
We are a diverse group and have many different learning levels. Every one of my students is AWESOME! As a Project Based Learning School, we will be embarking on our first project very soon!
Our first project involves investigating the Monarch Butterfly - it's life cycle and migratory habits. We will also find ways to bring more butterflies to our urban neighborhood.
My Project
We will be starting our very fist Project Based Learning Project in February. We will be investigating the Monarch Butterfly, its life cycle and migratory habits. We will try to find out why we don't see many in our neighborhood. We will also be creating seed packs to sell so that community members can plant their own butterfly garden. We will be creating informational posters - all about butterflies - as part of our project. We will also be designing butterfly gardens and selling seed packets to community members so that they may grow their own butterfly friendly garden. We will be creating instruction sheets, packaging and advertising for these products. We will also be presenting all our hard work at a Celebration of Learning!
The color printer will allow us to work together as a class, rather than having the teacher print/copy the items on the black and white printer, without student involvement. They will be able to generate their own work, right in the classroom.!!
Project Based Learning is all about hands-on lessons and activities.
Rather than doing worksheets, we are learning and working with a purpose. All we do and all we learn is linked to our project. This is an incredibly exciting way to teach and learn. The color printer will allow the students to create their project pieces from draft through editing to a final copy right here in our classroom. We will be able to create professional level work to present to our school and community!
