Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my elementary school love to do art, music/dance are a necessity for them, and they love to laugh and tell jokes. These kids are all so culturally diverse, yet so friendly with one another. Their eagerness to learn, explore, and inquire about everything helps push lessons forward in all subject matters. Their blunt personalities will definitely flourish with the number of leadership skills these young students are all beginning to display.
My Project
Our school was recently gifted a book bin to act as a "free little library" for our community. With your help, I would like to fill our library with culturally diverse books that reflect our school community.
Books are a reflection of who we can or choose to become.
They mold our minds and expand our imagination. By bringing in books by authors such as Jason Reynolds, Jacqueline Woodson, and Maya Christina Gonzalez - the students and families will be given an opportunity to see themselves reflected back to them in both language and illustration.
The curated books have been chosen specifically to reach students within and around our elementary school. Not only will these picture books, chapter books, and series boost our library accessibility during this time, but they will always act as a catalyst to motivate and encourage students to read!
