Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in Huntington Park, California. Many of our students are also English language learners and non-verbal.

My classroom supports students with moderate to severe autism, and I currently have nine students.

The individual needs of my students vary greatly, so it is important to have materials and activities that engage all of them. They learn best through the use of pictures, manipulatives, and kinesthetic activities. My students enjoy hands-on materials and are eager to explore new objects.

My Project

The materials I am requesting in this project will help to target various skills including early literacy, mathematics, and fine motor skills. My students will benefit greatly from all of the materials including specialized scissors, hands-on literacy activities, and math related games because they are interactive and engaging. The activities I am request will be perfect for small group instruction and will give me the opportunity to embed social skills such as turn taking and sharing into our daily routines. I am requesting specialized scissors in order to supply my diverse learners with the tools they need to be successful.
