My Students
I teach at a charter school that was created for students with Autism, ADHD, and other special needs. My special students are making huge academic progress as they receive one-on-one leveled reading, math, and functional skills instruction. Many students make over a year's worth of progress over the course of the school year.
My students require various accommodations in the classroom and their instruction in order to meet their diverse academic, behavioral, and sensory needs in the classroom.
My students enjoy learning and work hard each day despite their differing abilities.
My Project
My class recently received a donation from DonorsChoose.org of a well-made classroom storage unit. We currently have a jumbled collection of plastic shoeboxes, which easily break. We are excited to use the classroom cubbies and would be thrilled to have durable, colorful tubs made especially for the cubbies.
Colorful bins will help my students differentiate between Math, Language, and Sensory materials stored within durable, special-made bins.
My special needs students would benefit from an organized learning environment. The visual timer and heavy-duty storage unit are a great step towards making a calm and organized environment for my easily overstimulated students.
