My Project
I am a Special Education teacher in a school that is specialized to serve students with various needs, including Autism. This year I will be teaching a 6:1:1 class full of incredible, curious, fun-loving and energetic k-2 students! Each of my students have a range of abilities and learn in many different, unique ways. Most of my students are non-verbal, and require various supports to be successful in their learning. They have communication, sensory, fine/gross motor and processing needs. They are more focused and excited about learning if the activities and materials are highly engaging. They are particularly engaged in interactive activities that are colorful and hands-on. In special education, being able to provide students with colorful visuals is essential.
With a designated printer in my classroom, my team will be able to provide engaging, high quality, colorful resources that provides my students with access to learn new and challenging skills that can stimulate their retention, participation, and boost active learning.
A color printer will make a difference in my classroom and enable me to create differentiated materials, such as posters, visual aids, charts, activities, and assignments for my students. Access to a color printer in my classroom will make our daily activities fun, engaging, and visually appealing.
The possibilities are endless with a colored printer in the classroom. I can use the printer to print out data, documentation, and other resources for families. I can use the printer to provide my students with fully colored visual aids, schedules, decodable books, and task boxes to support IEP goals- all of which are beneficial to my students. I have also asked for laminating sheets, sheet protectors, Velcro and printer paper- which will all supplement the materials I will print from the classroom printer.
