My Project

With black and colorful construction paper, students will be completing a tanagram art project.

In this project, students will be cutting out different colored shapes and creating unique pictures out of those shapes.

Students' art creations look best against a black ground with color shapes.

After they finish creating their picture, students will calculate the surface area of their projects. Students will do this by measuring out the base and heights of each of the shapes and then calculating the area using the formulas they learned in math class.

Once they find the area of each shape, they add them up to find the total surface area. Having different colored shapes will better help them stay organized as they show their work calculating their work.
