My students need colorful Magna-tiles and light table learning materials to use with our new light up cube!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Cooke's classroom raised $310

My Students
My students live in a high poverty, urban area. They go to a community school where every child receives free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Many of our students live in public housing, with relatives, or are homeless. Many of my students are second language learners. Many of the children do not have their needs met at home. This is often due to lack of finances, long work days, and everyday stress.
My students are excited to come to school and crave the routine of our school day.
One of the main focuses of our school is to integrate the arts into learning.
My Project
My students need materials to use with our new Light Up Cube. Magna-tiles are an open-ended activity that allows children to learn about geometric concepts such as shapes and symmetry as they build with the colorful magnetic tiles. Children can explore the properties of color and light as they use translucent letters, numbers, and shapes. Math concepts such as sorting, counting, and patterns can be practiced while playing with colorful materials. Children will also be able to discover mixing colors as they play. Children learn best through play. Interesting materials motivate children to practice important academic concepts without them even knowing it!
