My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher at an inner-city school. I am privileged to work with 28 amazing children who are eager to learn and use any learning tools they are given. My students have a tremendous amount of learning to do this upcoming year, and most of it happens from repetition and practice.

My students like to read, participate, and ask questions!

Working as an elementary teacher in a low-income and high-poverty inner-city district is challenging itself. These pandemic years have been very difficult for our families and students. My students face several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Whichever challenge they meet, I strive to provide my students with the creative and meaningful learning experiences they deserve!

My Project

In kindergarten, writing is very difficult to master with focusing on sentence structure, handwriting, and neatness. Because this is hard to grasp throughout the year, I have my students do an art project with their writing. This allows my students to really use their imagination in creating new stories! It allows them to truly visualize their story before beginning to write it on paper. The more colors they use, the more detailed their stories become! New crayons and markers will aid students in being able to identify colors and stay creative! Students are still learning the difference between colors and practicing pencil holding skills. These items will aid in their fine motor skills into successful learners!

Thank you for supporting my students by knocking down the barrier to resources that is necessary for their success.

I very much appreciate your consideration in this matter and sincerely hope you will view my request favorably and provide the requisite funds.
