My Students

My students come from diverse and challenging backgrounds. At my school, 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Attendance issues, disciplinary actions, and motivation to learn are everyday obstacles for both teachers and students. Finding ways to inspire and motivate students to strive for a better tomorrow is at the top of my priorities, right alongside their IEP goals.

Some days hugs and high fives are more important in our therapy room than formal instruction.

Every time I see a student smile, assist others, and show pride for the things they have accomplished it makes the long days worth every second.

My Project

Some of the items on this list will help make my room more colorful and creative. The colored paper can be used to make the hole punch cards that we use as a reward and reinforcement system. The hole punch is used to track their positive choices on each student's card. I use the lamination sheets to create new resources and make sure they can last long enough to be used multiple times by multiple students.

I want to make my classroom more engaging and give the students new ways to participate!

The buzzers and white boards will help me do that. Rather than the old "raise your hand" question and answer format, I am hoping to create more challenging and team oriented activities. The more active my students can be, the more engaged in learning they will become!

I also want to motivate them to grow as individuals by posting motivational reminders around the room. The poster set on this list can help me do just that! My goal for this year is to end each day with positive affirmations.
