My Project
I am requesting neon expo markers and colored pencils. We use the neon markers to write on our black lab tables. Regular markers don't show up, but the neon window markers are bright and stand out against the black. We use these to draw atomic models, balance equations, draw food webs, ect.
The students love writing on tables with neon markers, and it allows me to easily see if they grasp the concept.
We've been using the same sets of markers for about 5 years, and most of them are so dim we can barely see them. We ended up throwing about half of them away and sharing when we did our last activity.
I'm also requesting some class sets of colored pencils. We make interactive notebooks in our Science class, that my students use for the entire year. In these notebooks, we draw and label diagrams, create mini posters, make foldables related to the content we are learning, and fill in "Doodle Notes". One of the favorite activities are "One Pagers", where students can creatively "Show what they know" using words and pictures. We go through a lot of colored pencils throughout the year, and could use some fresh boxes.
