Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach ELL (English Language Learner) students from many different countries of various English language levels. My students are very eager to learn and I want to do everything I can to help them meet their potential. Our school is a Title I school with many students living at the poverty level. The majority of my students do not speak English yet are motivated to learn! In addition to being children of the pandemic, my students are in a new country, in a new school, very different than anything they have experienced.
Supplying my students with multiple ways to reduce their anxieties during class will make them more productive in both language learning and academic success.
Having a calming space within the classroom available to them will help, should they become overwhelmed with work, thoughts or anything that prevents them from focusing on their education. The aromatherapy diffuser with provide a sense of calm throughout the classroom. Options for coloring pages and flexible seating with cushions provides their own choices, along with hygiene supplies, for managing self-care.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
