Color Theory in Cosmetology With Tie Dye!

Help me give my students tie dye and t shirts to demonstrate their proficiency in color theory while making a beautiful shirt!

My Project

My students are vocational education students who leave their home school for a half-day Cosmetology program. These students are in their second year of the program and upon completion will graduate high school this year. My students are a diverse mix of young adults coming from many different home school districts. Students will take the NYS Boards leading them to a cosmetology license. Students in this program also are in vocational honor society and some mentor other students. Many are going on to college or the service, with this valuable trade in their back pocket.

Color Theory is one of our topics as we learn about coloring hair, what better way to demonstrate their proficiency of color theory and the color wheel than through tie dye!

Not only will the students enjoy making their tie dye shirts while learning about color theory and the science of mixing colors, they will take home a t shirt which is a basic need and it will be a happy reminder of a great year of Cosmetology!
