This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 9th graders who are just entering high school. Many of them have not had a formal science lab class. I also teach upperclassmen who have difficulty with science and may have failed in the past. Walking into a science classroom is intimidating for some of them. Not having enough lab materials just makes that feeling even worse!

My students walk into my room with a smile on their face, wanting to learn.

I want to be able to provide them with the best education possible. I want them to like science and have fun learning! I want to be able to have enough supplies for all of them, so they can complete their labs on time.

My Project

The Earth Science program in our school has grown. I now service 150 students each day, for both lab and lecture classes. I am responsible for getting these students prepared for the State Exam in June.

With so many students, my supplies are wearing down quickly!

The students are eager to learn new things and want to complete their labs. Unfortunately, due to limited supplies, they can't work as fast as they would like to.

Getting new class sets of colored pencils, along with a heavy duty sharpener, will allow the students the ability to work at their own pace and complete their labs efficiently.
