My classroom is a collection of significantly diverse learners who each have very special qualities requiring 1:1 to 1:3 instruction in the areas of academics, functional skills, behavioral skills, and social skills. The majority of my students require frequent sensory breaks and lack communication skills needed to express their wants and needs. Noises can be difficult so having a calming environment is beneficial to them and hands-on learning is beneficial.
My classroom consists of 12 wonderfully, energetic students with Autism and I just found out I will have kindergarten and 1st grade online!!
Technology is essential in my classroom and my students will be 1:1 this year with iPads. All of my students come from a low socio-economic background, so they often have difficulties acquiring therapeutic items which help fulfill their sensory needs. More than 50% of the population receives free school lunch.
My Project
All of my students require some type of visual supports whether its for an individualized schedule or just a simple break card. With your donations I will be able to have a colored printed in my classroom. The purchase of the EcoTank ET-2720 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer will provide me the means to create resources for my students. This year has been a challenge, but my students have worked so hard. Teachers are returning to school and I do not have a working printer to provide materials in color. I want to give my students the most positive experience and supports for them to be successfully independent.
