As the PE teacher at our school, I have the privilege of influencing all 311 students (ages pre-K - 6th grade) at our Title I-funded school. My goal as a physical education teacher is to help my students create a positive relationship with movement, build healthy habits with their peers, and challenge themselves to find success in different physical activities. My students thrive when given opportunities to be active, work as a team, and celebrate their accomplishments together. However, we live in a time when screens—tablets, video games, and social media like Snapchat—compete for our students’ attention more than ever. Many kids spend hours sitting in front of a screen each day, making it even more important to provide engaging, active experiences that show them how fun movement can be.
This project will fund an end-of-the-year color run, launching a new school tradition that promotes fitness, fun, and community spirit.
The resources I’m requesting—including color powder, race supplies, and event materials—will help create an unforgettable experience that encourages students to move with joy and excitement. By starting this tradition this year with a color run, my hope is to build up the excitement and make this an event that students and families look forward to each year.
My goal is to create a high-energy, inclusive event where every student and their family, regardless of skill level, can participate and feel successful. This color run will celebrate their hard work throughout the year, reinforce the importance of an active lifestyle, and bring our school community together in a positive, engaging way.
