Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are in middle school, from sixth (6th) to eighth (8th) grade, ranging from ten (10) to fifteen (15) years old. Our learners come from various background with different level of health, intellectual, and physical needs. Most of our students are non-native English learners in a Title I (high poverty rate) school setting.
Despite all challenges against them, our students are eager to achieve success in our co-teaching general education class settings.
Our students know they are successful when they have the skills and confidence to develop their content knowledge and understanding alongside their general education peers.
My Project
Color permeates all aspects of our lives. It shapes how we perceive the world; it's an essential part of our cultural identity, and it benefits our health and mind. For our classes, the color printer and toner cartridges provide differentiated instructions and notes to help our students understand science and math concepts with visual differences. The school budget for our color printing materials is limited, so these toners will go along way in presenting science concepts and notes that will clear up questions visually for many students. Additionally, part of the color printing usage will be shared with our special education team to create communication tools for non-verbal and autism programs, such as picture exchange communication system (PECS).
