I work in a Title One school with students who come from a low socioeconomic background. This year I am running our school schoolwide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program. Included in our program is Growth Mindset and Mindfulness tools and techniques - ways that we can do our best behaviorally and academically.
We have a "cool down" room in our school and I am trying to create resources to help supplement our program.
I would prefer these resources to be in color ink to make it more kid friendly, but I do not have a color printer in my classroom to print from. I feel that being in a low income area and with a great behavior program, I can help keep students on the right track to finishing their educating and being the best versions of themselves.
My Project
By receiving a color printer with extra ink and as chairperson of our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentive and Support) program, I will be able to create resources for our students such as brag tags, growth mindset posters, and mindfulness cool down kits. I do not currently have a color printer with ink and what primary school child wants to look at a black and white poster?!
This colorful motivation may be just what one of our low socioeconomic babies needs to stay on the right track in school!
By hanging bright resources in our cool-down room and throughout our school, we can decrease the number of behavior problems and disciplinary referrals.
