Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 8th grade students in Northridge, CA. We do a lot of project-based learning where the students can explore mathematical concepts through real-world, engaging problem-solving. Students utilize their creativity to create displays. A color printer would help them create more dazzling displays and present their ideas.
For example, this year students acted as young entrepreneurs to create and design their own business using the volumes of cylindrical and conic goods.
They also used systems of equations to determine the best plan to run a fundraiser for the school.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
