Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Autistic students are very colorful characters. They respond well to bright and colorful signs, schedules, and other visual supports necessary for this population to thrive. Every day, they tell me their favorite colors and sing "The Colors Song" (In Spanish and English). They love to write stories and illustrate them with colorful pictures. I have great little storytellers and budding artists in my class here!

Unfortunately, our school printer is not so colorful.

WHEN it is working (not always), we have to print black and white images, which are not aligned with the demands of our assigned ELA and Math program Requirements.

I'd like to color my students' learning experience by using a color printer in class with them to provide the kind of visual aids, charts, worksheets, and illustrations that will activate their interest and effort in learning.

We would illustrate stories, follow colorful picture cues, identify colors and shapes, and create flowcharts and graphics that would enhance our learning and fun.

In addition, the use of our school printer is often constrained by time limits, repairs, and poor quality images- it interferes with the printing of timely homework, paperwork for the children, and time management in general.

In our room, we strive to be more creative and efficient, which would greatly enhance our ability to teach and engage our wonderful students who have unique and special needs.
