I teach Kindergarten at a Title I elementary school where all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from a multitude of diverse backgrounds and cultures. While they come from different places they all share the same goals. These goals include academic achievement and language acquisition.
My classroom is filled with wonderful little ones who all want to learn and have fun doing it.
They are challenged right now with learning the sounds and rules of the English language. My challenge is to differentiate my instruction and activities so they can learn and achieve and be ready for 1st grade.
My Project
Kindergarten students love to color. Coloring gives them opportunities to visualize their world and create colorful masterpieces. As any teacher will tell you, keeping crayons in one piece and in a storage container is a big challenge. I want to start the new school year with solid new crayons and boxes for storage.
I'm requesting classroom packs of Crayola crayons and markers which will be used for a variety of hands-on art and science activities.
Kindergarteners use pictures as they learn words and having a rich variety of colors can help them create beautiful pictures. The crayons and markers will be stored in the clear plastic boxes which will also help the students learn organization.
I'm so excited to start a new school year with the right colorful supplies!
