This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are great. They love learning and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family's household incomes are below the poverty line.
My school is a large, crowded school, in a very large urban district.
This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Fourteen staff members from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.
My Project
In order to best meet the needs of my students, many of the materials we use daily in my classroom are handmade and collected from various digital sources. Our school does not have the funding for workbooks and expensive pre-made materials. Practice worksheets, visuals, and game materials must all be printed from my printer.
We need ink to help us think!
Ink can be very expensive. My school does not have resources to purchase the ink we need for all the materials we need in my class. Your donation will provide the tools to create the materials we need to learn and be successful.
