They are tall and they are small, they are quiet and they are loud, they are really young and they are nearly ready to move on to the next school. But they all have one thing in common - they are excited about music!
I love the variety that teaching elementary music brings!
We can play instruments and let our voices soar. We can be silly shaking beanbags and strum our ukuleles in full concentration. Every day is different and it's so much fun!
My Project
I teach in two different schools, and I realized how much my students in one school enjoy the fruit and veggie shakers. We use them to add different ingredients to soup songs and they worked beautifully in our Native American song this week. I would love for my students in my second school to experience those fun shakers.
The beautiful, colorful djembes would allow each child to have a drum in our drum circle.
My students love to be creative and explore different rhythms using drums. They are easy to use and give children of all abilities a chance to shine and express themselves.
We have used our boomwhackers for a few years now and my students are ready to jump into some more difficult compositions that use accidentals. The boomwhacker sets would give us this option and we can retire a few well loved boomwhackers.
I would like to use the deskbells as an option for music centers. Students could play melodies following a color coded score or compose their own short songs. There are many possibilities for these colorful instruments to be a big help to younger students.
