My Students
I teach sixth grade at a K-8 elementary school in the Sierra Nevada foothills. My students are growing up together in a small, tight-knit community school. I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic and innovative despite our low socioeconomic and Title I status. They are enjoying collaborative, hands-on projects: working together to accomplish a goal.
This is my second year teaching sixth grade and I look forward to inspiring a new group of students.
My Project
My students need ink and paper for our classroom printer.
These ink cartridges will make a difference for my students because it will allow them to enhance their journaling experience.
My sixth grade students will maintain three journals this year, a grit journal, science and a math journal. For their grit journal, they can create a colorful representation of their goals. In science they will be printing diagrams and pictures . And in math, the eight standards for mathematical practice.
The colored ink will allow them to create colorful and individualized content for their personal journals. Students can put their creativity and imagination into a project that is uniquely theirs. Hopefully, the end of the year result will be something they are very proud of sharing.
My students also need a few healthy snack options and a bag of starburst candies to reward desired behavior at the beginning of our school year.
