Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up"-Pablo Picasso. We only have one color printer in our building, and we have it thanks to the generosity of DonorsChoose donations!

We are a Title I, inner city school in Connecticut.

100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and the majority of our students are English language learners. We have a very supportive administration that believes fully in the power of art education, but budget cuts continue to affect our ability to provide our students with the materials needed. I am very thankful to work with such amazing and talented students that have a love for the arts, both in school and at home.

My Project

Our school is behind in updated technology and it is a challenge to present materials to the students in a meaningful way, without having them crowd around my computer screen! The printer has helped us in the past to create large art print and digital art projects. It has been a challenge to create meaningful experiences with the students when educating them about art from different cultures with vibrant and lively color with black and white printed images from our photocopier.

This printer ink will last us the year and provide materials that can be reused in future classes.

When we had ink, it improved student engagement and exposure to many art forms. We were without ink all last year and the students would frequently ask if we had ordered more. The students are able to make gifts for their families and have exposure to computer art and its impact on the world of art today.
