This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in an urban district, with every child receiving free lunch due to high poverty, and in a school that is in jeopardy of being taken over by the state. With a huge financial deficit, it makes it impossible to buy supplies directly through our school system.

Many of my kids have learning disabilities and benefit from using software on the computer instead of the book, allowing me to differentiate their classwork.

These children deserve the very best to overcome the poverty cycle and allow them to be college-bound!

My Project

We NEED simple science supplies required to fill the gaps for the Next Generation Science Standards! Common classroom science materials such as petri dishes to colonize bacteria, magnetic bits to show energy and force, or markers to show creativity are essentially non-existent.

With budgets being so low within an urban community, my students struggle to obtain the basic materials necessary in order to achieve higher standards.

Having these materials on hand will allow my students to compete with surrounding districts that not only have these materials but live above the state's poverty level. My students will be able to complete projects and receive the materials they deserve so they are having a great time while learning.
